Inworld Review is on HIE region
The new Inworld Review studio is located on the same region as the Hypergrid International Expo. It is set in the countryside, on a promontory to the north east of the Expo Park. It is the home of a regular talk show about the people and places of Opensim. The show is broadcast on Youtube twice a month on the second and fourth Sundays at 11am Pacific time, on Inworld Review -- we invite you to subscribe so you do not miss future episodes.
The Inworld Review building has a futuristic, organic open plan design and was donated by Jimmy Olsen. Each episode of the show features news from various grids, information about upcoming events and parties, and interviews with interesting guests. Inworld Review began back in 2013, and was the brainchild of Mal Burns, a veteran broadcaster and news aggregator in virtual worlds, who also co-founded the Hypergrid International Expo with Thirza Ember.
With the help of co-hosts and film crew, including videographers James Atlloud and Petlove Petshop, and co-hosts including Mal's partner Tara Yeats, and later Maria Korolov, Thirza Ember, and Tosha Tyran, Mal created dozens of episodes of the show. His guests came from all fields of activity in opensim, from musicians to film makers, to artists, tech developers, grid owners, animesh makers, and educators. The show's aim was to bring the scattered grids of Opensim together, and to be aware of the many ongoing positive activities.
After the death of Mal Burns, Inworld Review went offline for a few months. In November 2025 the show returned with a new format, location, lineup, and dedicated YouTube channel called Inworld Review. Tosha Tyran, James Atlloud, Petlove Petshop and Thirza Ember are the production team and presenters. The revived program will continue to feature guests and a roundup of news and opinion about what is going on in Opensim. It will be broadcast on the second and fourth Sunday of each month, with the news feature 'Hypergrid Happenings' presented as a stand-alone weekly short on Youtube in the weeks when there is no full length Inworld Review.
Mal's Metaworld Youtube channel remains of course online and is a valuable resource and archive.
If you missed the event, you can read about the Memorial for Mal Burns held on October 1 on the HG Safari blog and watch the video of the event.
In recognition of Mal's work, the intro to the new version of Inworld Review references his many shows and his always optimistic and witty approach to opensim and virtual worlds in general, and also over a hundred pictures of places around the hyperverse.
